The town of Gold Bar sits right on Highway 2, anyone driving the Cascade Loop has to pass right through it. It’s a popular stop for gas and supplies when heading up to and over Stevens Pass. Gold Bar got its start as a prospectors camp in the late 1880’s. Gold Bar is also home to several tour and adventure companies that are capable of getting you out on the water of the local rivers and lakes and hiking up in the trails in the surrounding forest. Gold Bar is surrounded by some gorgeous scenery and some great recreational possibilities. Wallace Falls State Park is located very close to town and offers camping, hiking, and more. A short drive west from Gold Bar will bring you to and through the towns of Sultan, Startup, and Monroe. Here you will find all kinds of shopping and eating options, as well as some fun things to do and see. If you were to head east, Highway 2 will take you past Skykomish and up and over Stevens Pass to the east side of the Cascade Mountains. Water recreation is popular in the Gold Bar area and there are plenty of great places to go rafting or kayaking. This is one small town that’ll have no problem keeping you entertained.
