About Monroe

Monroe is a beautiful small city that sits on Highway 2, where it junctions with both Highway 203 and Highway 522. the Skykomish river flows along the southern side of the city before joining with the Snoqualmie River a few miles downstream to form the Snohomish River. Monroe has a large retail area along the highway and is a popular place to stop for a bite to eat either before heading into the mountains or after coming across them. Depending on your direction of travel, when you make it to Monroe you’re either leaving or entering the urbanized section of the Cascade Loop.

Things To Do In Monroe

One of the most noticeable attractions in Monroe is visible right off the highway and is very popular with kids and adults alike, the Reptile Zoo. Other popular attractions in town include the Western Heritage Center, Alden Farms, any of the several pubs and breweries found there, and of course Evergreen Speedway. There are some great antique shops there too, along with a vibrant farmers market. A popular activity in Monroe, one that actually draws people from the surrounding area is disc golf at Tall Firs Disc Golf Course. Monroe has a fine selection of parks too, including many that are located right along the shores of the river and lakes that surround the city. Monroe is also home to the Evergreen State Fairgrounds which hosts a number of events, obviously including the Evergreen State Fair. It’s very easy to stop off in Monroe and have a great time.

Monroe – The Surrounding Area

One of Monroe’s best attributes is that it is conveniently located very near some other great things to see and do. Just west of Monroe is Snohomish, famous for its antique stores and quaint shops, along with Everett which brings with it a large selection of shopping and dining opportunities. To the east of Monroe you’ll find a series of small towns, each of them offering some fun things to do, and beyond them, Stevens Pass. When you’re staying in Monroe, you’re not far from I-5 which can get you to a number of places, as well as the water of Puget Sound. Finding something to do in the area surrounding Monroe is an extremely easy thing to do.
