Sedro-Woolley is a beautiful little city in the Skagit Valley, just inland from Puget Sound coastline and on the way up Highway 20 into the North Cascade Mountains. For those heading west on the Cascade Loop from there, this is the perfect place to stock up on a last few treats or to grab that forgotten item you meant to pack. The Skagit River flows right past Sedro-Woolley and places a large part in the life of the city. This is a valuable little stop off on the Cascade Loop, that’s for sure. It also works great as a place to spend the night if you’d like to take some extra time experiencing the Skagit Valley.

Sedro-Woolley is also home to wineries, a fun local market, historic downtown area, farmers market, several farms open to the public, skate park, urban trail, golf courses, museums, and more. Whether passing through on the Cascade Loop or stopping for a night or longer, Sedro-Woolley is a great place to visit.

The Surrounding Area

Sedro-Woolley is surrounded by the gorgeous Skagit Valley which automatically means there’s plenty to do in all directions. If you travel west from town on Highway 20, you’ll reach Burlington, Interstate 5, as well as Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands where there are all kinds of things to do. Heading eat from town will lead you through Concrete, Rockport, and Newhalem as you climb higher and higher into the North Cascades. Along the way you’ll pass by great parks, historic dams, waterfalls, hiking trails, and wonderful scenic beauty. You’ll also have plenty of chances to get out on the water too, either on fishing or rafting trips, and also aboard a famous boat tour of a high mountain lake, dam, and powerhouse. With all the great things to see and do around Sedro-Woolley, it’s no wonder so many people stay there and use it as a sort of headquarters as they explore the whole Skagit Valley and beyond.
