About Sultan

The town of Sultan is located on Highway 2 on the Cascade Loop, west of the communities of Gold Bar, Index, Skykomish, and Startup. It sits right where the Sultan River flows down from the north and empties into the Skykomish River. Sultan is a fun little community of a few thousand people. It has a lot to offer the visitor who is coming there to stay or just to pull off the highway. It is more than capable of delivering the quintisential small town experience.

Things To Do In Sultan

Sultan has a nice selection of places to eat out at, including everything from tasty breakfast spots to substantial dinner places. Sultan also has some very popular bars and pubs too. Downtown you’ll find coffee houses, a market, a gallery, and a very popular bakery. If you have an interest in horseback riding, there’s a trail company that will take you out for a ride in the surrounding area. Sultan also has a number of local celebrations that are popular with locals and visitors alike, including the Sultan Shindig. Sultan also offers plenty of parks and spaces along the river. The vacation rentals in and around the town offer some very nice opportunities to kick back and relax too. Being entertained during a stop in Sultan is not hard at all.

Sultan – The Surrounding Area

Sultan sits in an interesting part of the Cascade Loop. When you feel like you’ve exhausted this interesting little town, there are several other communities to explore both east and west of you. Just venture out to nearby Index, Gold Bar, Startup, Skykomish, Snohomish, or Monroe and you’ll find plenty of more shops and activities to check out. This is especially good if you like to go antique shopping. There is even a nearby reptile zoo which both adults and children have a good time visiting. When staying in Sultan you can also venture out and visit Wallace Falls State Park, Spada Lake, Lake Chaplain, Lake Roesiger Park, and more. In many of these locations you’ll find opportunities to go rafting, fishing, offroading, mountain biking, and hiking. Getting out and about in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains is very easy when staying in Sultan.
